Another Hike Report

It was a beautiful weekend in St. Charles, and serendipitiously, a 2-night backpacking trip was planned. As you can tell from the following pictures, it was a fantastic place to be ...

The woods were peaceful and offered great views:

We had plenty of elbow room to pitch our tents and snore away:

We camped by this small lake the second night, listened to the geese, and slept 10 hours:

But it wasn't all nirvana. It fell to about 25-degrees the first night (I don't like nights under 30), and the next morning I stepped on a moss/ice-covered rock and slipped into the following pool in a creek (while it was in the mid-thirties!):

While drying my clothes over the campfire, my pants legs caught on fire:

I guess it takes a few slips and burns to get smarter.

Looks like a good time. And a great weekend. Where did you go and who went?

At Cuivre River State Park. There were four others: Vince, Mike, Kevin and Rick (all Boy Scout leaders). Thanks for asking.
