Boo at the Zoo

This was Olivia's first trip to Boo at the Zoo.  It was a rousing success for all kids involved.  Hopefully there were no bad dreams from the story that the storyteller told them. Catherine doesn't appear in any of  my pictures for some reason, but she was there!

First Timers

We took the RV on our first official trip last weekend.  We went to Mark Twain State Park.

There was a little bit of color in the trees.  And lots of nuts falling on the ground where we were parked.  Mike Taylor told me what these were called, but I can't remember.  All I  know is that they make a really loud noise when hitting the roof of the RV!

It wouldn't be camping (technically I guess we weren't actually "camping") without a fire.

We were really surprised by all of the RVers that had Halloween decorations up around their sites.  Apparently this is THE thing to do.  Maybe next year!

Kentucky Bourbon Trail - Part 3

We spent the afternoon at Shaker Village.  After walking around looking at their buildings and farm animals we ate dinner in their dining hall.  The food was delicious!  We ate so much we all felt slightly sick afterwards.

The next day we drove out in the country (even further!) and saw lots of beautiful horses and horse barns.

We then visited Four Roses Distillery.

Next up was Woodford Reserve.  Dad had never heard of this bourbon, but he was soon a convert!

He said it was the smoothest bourbon he's tasted in a long time.

Kentucky Bourbon Trail - Part 2

Our first stop was the Wild Turkey Distillery.  This place is huge!  And it only  has 82 employees!  They loaded us on a bus and took us to the building where they actually make the mash.  If bourbon tastes like it smells it has to be pretty bad!
This is where they prepare the barrels.  Did you know that barrels can only be used once?  They then sell them to Ireland where they can use them several times.
Can you see how happy Dad is?  That's because it's free sample time!  He not only had his 2, but Moms 2 and my 2.  It was only 10 in the morning, but he stated he could get used to drinking in the morning!
He was going to try and climb on this but figured after drinking 6 small shots he might fall off!

Kentucky Bourbon Trail - Part 1

Steve and I took my parents (read: DAD) to Kentucky to visit The Kentucky Bourbon Trail.  It was really a lot of fun.  On the way we stopped in Louisville to visit the Slugger Museum.

This wall is full of all the autographs of players who have signed contracts to have Slugger  make them bats. While we were there they were making bats for David Freese.  We couldn't take pictures of the factory tour, but it was well worth the time to visit.  Very enjoyable.

This was Mickey Mantles bat.  They  made you wear gloves to touch it! Notice my professional stance?  They wouldn't let you swing the bat either!!!

Pumpkin Patch

We took Olivia on her first trip to a pumpkin patch. She seemed to enjoy it! How could you not?
There were hay bale mountains to climb.
Horses to ride.
Ziplines to ride through the sky on.
And pumpkins to pick out!

We all had a good time!

Disney

We went to Disney and all I came back with are some not so good pictures! And a lot of memories! I'm having a lot of trouble with blogger right now and can't figure out how to fix it. I'm unable to put captions on the pictures so all of my comments will be right here! 1.Disney was decorated for Halloween and I thought their decorations were really cute. 2. This is everyone at the Disney character lunch. 3. I don't know if you can tell but the 2 princesses were fighting over Michael. He's already a princess magnet! 4. These 2 had a great time teasing Catherine. 5. Yes, that is a crane behind the castle. Not good for taking photos. 6.Tiger from Winnie the Pooh. 7. Gussie and Olivia really liked the goats.
