Hanging Lake

One of the hikes Steve and I took while we were still in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, was to Hanging Lake.  This is a very popular trail.  It was also a very difficult one.  It was over 1 mile straight up.  Most of the trail was rock.  Very hard on the legs and feet, but well worth the effort.  The lake at the top was beautiful.  It was very clear and the waterfall was pretty nice.

This guy kept following us around.

I don't know if you are able to see the rocks along the trail that these people are walking down.

Hat time!

Olivia is already asserting her independence. She clearly told Grandpa, I don't like the way you put hats on! This is the way to do it!

What you've been waiting for!

Of course, I mean pictures of Olivia!

She was so excited about her wagon she couldn't wait for Grandpa to put the wheels on!

Weeping Rock

Steve and I drove into Zion Park about 6:30pm and caught the park shuttle. That is the only way you can get around in the park unless you walk or ride your bike.

We got off at  Weeping Rock.  It was an easy 1/2 mile walk on a paved path.

I think if we had gotten here earlier in the spring we would have seen a small waterfall, but now it's not very big at all.  It is actually dripping on us here, but you can't tell.

The view was breathtaking!
We're going back in to spend the day tomorrow. Lots of hiking and biking! In the meantime I'm heading for the hot tub. My knees are still bothering me from the biking in Glenwood Springs yesterday!

Biking the Glenwood Canyon Trail

We went on a bike ride Sunday morning. It was 16 miles long, mostly downhill. Good thing! My knees are killing me just from going downhill! We arranged for a bike company to take us and our bikes to the trailhead.
The trail runs between the Colorado River and Highway 70. Most of the highway through here is a double decker.

There is also a train that runs on the other side of River.

It was a beautiful ride. The weather was perfect.

#430 and #431

A quick stop in Grinnell, Kansas provided not only one, but two, geocaches! Some of the places that geocaching takes you are pretty interesting.
This one had you digging through tree limbs.
But he did come out with a golf ball!
The clue for this one was, "What's going on?"

Family Photo

Steve and I went with Mike, Amber and the kids to Elephant Rock State Park yesterday. At the end of our outing I took a picture (ok, 12 pictures!) of them as a family. Those grandkids are hard to photograph! Someone is always making a face. I thought this one came out pretty good though.

My kind of town.... Chicago!

I went to Chicago with Steve this week. He went to work. I went to play. I spent a lot of time laying on this chaise. Did a little shopping. (Can you say Ikea?) And ate a lot.

They have a small Legoland here. Steve and I checked out the Lego store. Did you know they have architecture Lego's? They're pretty cool. So was Einstein.

This giraffe is pretty big.

I went to eat at the Weber Grill one night.

We also stopped in Champaign one night to visit Aunt Luella and Aunt Therese.  They're both doing well.  Aunt Luella is moving to a retirement home in July. She's been busy cleaning out her house.  We ate dinner and spent a nice evening chatting.  Of course, we were happy to get out of St Charles and the rain and tornadoes.  Guess what they had in Champaign?  Yeah, that's right!  A tornado!
