Jena's Family Visits the Farm

Tommy, Jena & Jo came for a visit in October.  We were able to coordinate it so Jena's family could meet us at the farm.  Lots of fun was had.  (Even though the look on Jena's face says "what you looking at?")

Jewel loved playing with the dolls.  Tommy was happy we had wifi!

We were able to squeeze in a hayride. Josephine loved it and wants to do it again!

                                                               Charlie got lots of loving.

Josephine gets this look from her Mom!  "What you lookin at?"

First Quarter of 2020 part 1

In March we took a hike to Bluffton Overlook Conservation Area.  Even though it was straight up we enjoyed it.

Mike is not crazy about heights.  So he remained a safe distance from the overlook while we all enjoyed the view.

Edie loves the screened porch at the farm and Charlie!

Lots of boardgames happen at the farm.

                                                                   This is pretzel Mary.

In February we took a trip to Destin.  The beaches were lovely.

                                                                                      The ice cream was delicious.

Catherine turned 13 in January!  I can't believe it.  Still remember getting the call that she was born.

Steve's retirement job

It's a good thing Steve retired.  Without him working at the farmhouse, we would be in a half finished house!  He built this table.  It's from a tree that Carl grew in their front yard.  It's a nice reminder of him.  (Steve also laid the hardwood floor).

We have a bear all the way from Alaska.  My friend Judy gifted us with it.

Steve laid the flooring on the deck and installed the rails.
He also installed the screens on the porch - to the right- but this picture is an older one and not showing the screens.

He built the dock.

Beautiful frozen waterfall on the property.

He laid the flooring in the mudroom.

I saw this on Pinterest and asked him to make it for me!
So cute!

He laid the tile in the 1/2 bath.

He installed the barnwood on the stair wall.

We got this barnwood from Jena's daddy.  I cleaned it and Steve put it up.

He hung the pantry doors, closet doors, bedroom doors and bathroom doors.
He is quite the handyman!

Kayaking Fun

I can already tell it's going to be a fun summer at the farm.  Cook outs and kayaking!

First 1/2 of January 2019

Here comes the matron of honor!  Jena's younger sister Ali was married in January.

Steve braved the cold one day and built a dock on our pond.

Another cold day had Steve and Vince cutting down cedar trees and splitting them for a fence.

Here's a picture of our creek and the small waterfall that we have.

Fun at the Farm

We had some work to do at the farm and decided the grandkids could come and help out.  They were concerned that baby Agnes would arrive while they were gone, but I promised at the first sign of any  movement I would race them home!  We are going to plant some grapes in the Spring, but needed to install poles and wire first.

The next item on the work list was checking the pond out.  They needed to see if it was any good for kayaking and swimming.

We had a pretty big project in the woods.  It required all of us to get on the haywagon and go for a ride. They needed to collect the tools first.

The boys had a talk about how they were going to cut down trees.

On our way.

The first of several small trees to come down.

The last thing we needed to do was pick black walnuts up out of the yard.  We made quite a haul!
