Only 42% of young people (24-39 years old) are married, down from a high of over 80% a few decades ago.
I have a healthy respect for the younger set, but they have this one wrong. Very wrong.
According to the Journal, cohabitation rates among unmarrieds are also at an all-time high. People feel they need "to try things out". To me, this logic is either an excuse or self-deception. Because despite all of these trial arrangements in the name of common sense, divorce rates are sky-high.
Experimentation is not the answer; commitment is.
